For The Stuff Stories Are Made Of, a City of Kingston exhibition showcasing a striking mix of fine art and everyday historic objects, I was brought on as the contract graphic designer to develop the full suite of print materials, including the exhibition booklet and event posters. Working closely with Kingston Heritage staff, I helped translate the curatorial vision into a cohesive visual experience that supported both interpretation and promotion. The result was a thoughtful and well-received exhibition that invited visitors to reconsider the stories and significance behind the objects around them.

For The Stuff Stories Are Made Of, a City of Kingston exhibition showcasing a striking mix of fine art and everyday historic objects, I was brought on as the contract graphic designer to develop the full suite of print materials, including the exhibition booklet and event posters. layout inspiration/ preparation:
I’ve always loved working with Heritage Services for the City of Kingston! They always have amazing ideas they want to put into action. I appreciated the preparation their team took to lay out each of the exhibit walls months prior to the event in order for the booklet design to be as accurate as possible. I was given pictures of each wall in a mock layout to show each item’s placement, then each item was photographed separately in order to create each silhouette from a straight on angle.
I used Photoshop to manipulate the perspective of each mock wall to confirm the placement of each piece once wall was installed, and used this for the wall layouts within the booklets.

in order to keep the art exhibit feel for the experience, no labels were added to the walls except numbers next to the work, which were then referenced within the exhibition booklets located at the entrance.
